A parklands course, Pearl Valley lies within a ring of mountains
formed by the Groot Drakenstein, the Klein Drakenstein and the Simonsberg.
Carpeted with vineyards, the area is famously known as the heart
of Cape wine country. In the late 1800s, the Governor of the Cape,
Cecil John Rhodes, founded a vast fruit farming empire here. And
in 1990, Nelson Mandela took his first steps to freedom just a few
kilometres from the Pearl Valley entrance.
